Books and writing
I'm finally writing again!

This is exciting news to me, of course, because I actually haven't been able to do anything for a long while. I've taken up roads_diverged on IJ, which is basically AU challengefic for Jenova/Seph/Kadaj. It's coming a bit harder to me because I've realized years ago that I like playing with canon, slipping things in that work right along with what actually happened. Plucking them up and dropping them into something else entirely requires a bit more thinking... and clearly I or my muses haven't had the effort or the brainpower to do that since Gundam Wing. ^^; Well, I say it's going to be done anyway, and it will be done! I'm doing the tentacle prompt right now (because anything with Jenova pretty much starts and ends with her wriggly bits) and I foresee it to be kinktastic and creepy and there will be so many people looking sideways at me with THAT LOOK if ever they read it, but I'm pretty sure I'm used to that by now, so delving even further into insanity shouldn't hurt.

I also actually bought books today. *hearts* Yesterday--or would that be the day before? or the day before that?--I already acquired The Amber Spyglass to complete the boyfriends His Dark Materials trilogy (different cover which makes me sad and slightly twitchy, but at least the same size and style!) and today picked up Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception and Wicked, both with Chapters gift cards so it's like not spending money at all! *grins*

...Yes, Artemis Fowl is a children's series. I care not. I love children's books and went there intending to buy stuff by Roald Dahl and Tamora Pierce's Alanna series (except of course when I got there I completely forgot who the author was and what series I wanted to buy) but didn't end up doing so. As for Wicked... well, it's the paperback version with the movie cover, but it was cheaper, 30% off (40% with my iRewards discount) and... well... green. All good things in my book. Besides, last time I read it I was in a hurry to finish it and return it to Alex, so this time I'll get to devour properly. I did so eye the Dante's Inferno and Paradise Lost illustrated editions because they were just so shiny and I've actually never read them yet excepting snippets but they were a bit out of my price range and really, being able to help complete my itty bitty book collection is nice enough. (It's awesome having enough money to buy books. I never could as a kid and libraries were my bestest friend, but I love reading and re-reading so now I get to make up for it a little. ^__^)

The boyfriend's parents are coming over tomorrow. :S I really hope I don't spill the tea and/or bring shame and dishonor to my ancestors for ever and ever. ^^;;

[EDIT]: HAPPY BIRTHDAY YUKIHIRO!! May there be many more years of L'Arc in your future! And may L'Arc start making actually good music again, pleasepleaseplease.

Tamora Pierce! ♥♥♥ She is still one of my favorite authors, I don't care what people think, and I don't care what people say about Alanna being a Mary Sue. ;_; I love the Alanna books. I am twenty and my love for young adult fantasy is never-ending. If I ever get around to publishing a book, it will be YA fantasy.

Well really, most of YA fiction can be considered Sue fiction anyway, because who doesn't love reading about awesome people doing awesome things at that age (or hell, even now sometimes?). I've owned the Daine series for forever and now I've the money for it, Alanna needs to follow somehow! ^_^

Also, hurray for someone else awake at this ungodly hour of the morning!
